WWII Google Presentation Requirements
On May 13th-16th, 7th grade students will present an end-of-year Google presentation about the subject covered in the WWII research paper. This is a way for students to show the class what they learned and for the class to learn about many WWII topics in depth in a short amount of time. This is one of your last assignments in 7th grade Social Studies and will be graded accordingly. A minimum of seven slides and a maximum of ten slides must be presented. A bibliography is not required since you cited your sources in your paper. The presentation is DUE in Google Classroom on May 13th at 8am. You need to be able to present the day that you are called on in class, or your presentation will be considered late. Specific slide requirements:
Using your textbook, read pages 820-824 (This is not a typo. You do not have to read the section on the Holocaust.).
In your notebook, write the questions below (from page 827 in your textbook). Answer the questions in COMPLETE SENTENCES: 1. Define the word, "siege". You do not need to define the other words. 2. When the United States joined the Allies, why did the Allies concentrate on first defeating Hitler? 3. What was the significance of Operation Overlord? 4. You do not have to do this question. 5. Create a cause and effect chart like the one on page 827 in your textbook to describe the two fronts fought in Europe to defeat the Nazis. 6. You do not have to do this question. 7. What strategies did the Allies pursue in Europe and Africa to defeat the Axis Powers in World War II? Have a good weekend! Ms. Gibson What did Japan do in the Thirties?
What led up to the bombing of Pearl Harbor? In other words, why was Japan unhappy with America? p. 806 American Neutrality section: What were the Neutrality Acts and when were they passed? What was one of the reasons they were passed? p. 811 Starting with the America and the War section, answer the following questions on p. 813: 3. What was the outcome of the presidential election of 1940? 4. Explain why the attack on Pearl Harbor was successful. 5. What were the main goals of the Atlantic Charter? Make a diagram like the one in the book. An email sent out to students tonight is below. The requirements, rubric, and a student example is in the "file cabinet". The student example of the paper is mostly to reference the title page and the bibliography format.
Dear 7th Grade, After speaking to students this afternoon, I am adjusting the schedule for the research paper. This will allow for you to have more time to write and to check in with me regarding any questions you may have. Here is the revised schedule: Monday, April 29th -- 2nd and 3rd paragraphs due (no longer due this Friday) Thursday, May 2nd -- 4th paragraph due Monday, May 6th -- paper due at 8pm (I was thinking May 9th when I spoke to Period 5 today, but realized we need it in by the 6th so that you can move on to your presentation. Details on the presentation will be given later next week so that those of you who are finished with the paper can begin to work on it.) Don't forget that you will need a bibliography (in alphabetical order, MLA format) and a title page. I have several examples up on my website. I have changed the dates on the calendar and will change the Google Classroom due date soon. Attached are the requirements I handed out in class, but it has the original schedule listed. I plan to give each of you feedback on your thesis tomorrow during class and the rubric will be on the website later tonight. Have a good night! Ms. Gibson Battle of the Atlantic Article #1 How long did the battle last? (paragraph 1) #2 What was the Battle of the Atlantic? (paragraph 1) #3 Make a table showing which country was more successful in each year and explain why: 1940, 1941, 1942, 1943
Choose two primary sources from the document above that would be the most effective in raising money for the Battle of the Atlantic Museum. Make a statement that would help raise money for the Battle of the Atlantic Museum that includes information from two or more of the sources.
Look at paper topics below and think about what your top three choices would be. You can also consider topics that are not on this list.
